Laura Lexx is a star on the rise, one of those rare comics to reach the top of the live comedy club circuit and then expertly make the jump across to polished Edinburgh Festival shows and fantastic television appearances.
Having picked up a host of awards and nominations for her circuit work, including winning the Comics Comic Best MC Award 2017, Comedians Choice Awards in 2018 and 2019, and Chortle Best Compere nominations every year since 2016, she has transformed her mercurial ability with an audience into very sharp hour long performances. Tyrannosaurus Lexx (2016) and Trying (2018) have both been nominated for the Amused Moose Best Comedy Show Award.
She made her Live At The Apollo debut in December 2018, receiving an unprecedented reaction both from the live crowd and from viewers at home. Lexx can often be heard on the radio as well, as one of the hosts of the Comedy Club on Radio 4 Extra, where she writes and records all her own material for the show.
An extremely talented improviser, Laura leads the charge on the phenomenally popular Comedians Cinema Club shows at Brighton Komedia. A show where Laura’s own original film quiz format lights up the first half, before comedians improvise their way anarchically through their favourite films in the second half. The show is so popular it is currently sold out a year in advance.
Her comedy career began from Canterbury in Kent where she studied Drama and Theatre, with an undergraduate masters in the theory of stand-up and comedy. This was the springboard she used to reach the Paramount Student Comedy and Chortle Student Comedy Award finals within 6 months of first trying out as a stand up. From there she went on to become one of the most sought after acts on the circuit, supporting the likes of Tim Vine, Jason Manford and Russell Kane as well as taking on European tours and playing as far afield as Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
