Pint-Sized Towersey

We are delighted to share with you our plans for the 2021 Festival.

None of us know what the landscape will be in August of course, but things look like they are improving.

We don’t believe that running a full scale Towersey Festival in the usual way is a sensible approach this year and so we have developed a Towersey that has the potential to be socially distanced if required, is predominantly outside and has a massively reduced audience in order to have all the space that many of us may well want.

So, this is Pint-Sized Towersey!  A small but perfectly formed Towersey Festival.  A one-off event for 2021.

It will be smaller but still have all of our impeccable production and artistic values.

So, some of your questions answered I hope:

Tickets

There are very limited ticket numbers for Pint-Sized Towersey. About 50% of our normal weekend tickets!

The Tickets for the original  2021 festival are valid NOW for Pint-Sized.  That includes those carried forward from 2020. Yes, it is smaller but still has a stella line up.

Being covid safe adds a huge cost and having very limited ticket sales means we have a much smaller budget to work with.

So, Tickets will remain the same in terms of price.

Tickets will likely be SOLD OUT very fast (perhaps they already are with the number of you that still want to join us) so do hold onto them if you plan on coming as you may not get another chance!

If, through government and health and safety changes, we cannot run, then all tickets will be rolled over to 2022 or offered for refund at that time.

So, all tickets remain valid as of now!

They are refundable until the end of May if you DON’T want to join us for Pint Sized Towersey. 

So there are 2 simple choices.  Keep your tickets for 2021 (Pint Sized Towersey)….DO nothing.

OR get a refund by contacting Gigantic using the reference on your original ticket

Timings

The site will open at 8am on the morning of Friday 27th  with Music from around 2pm.  The Music will finish on Monday, at around 6.30pm so that those that need to, can get home on Monday night.

We have shortened the length of the event and site opening in order to make it more manageable this year.

So, you still get 4 nights of camping if you want it.

 Camping

 The Campsite will be marked out into 10 x 10m pitches (HUGE!) with 2M spaces in between, so you will all have loads of space.

There will still be a Late-Night area and an Accessibility Area for those that need easier access and accessible toilets and showers.

There will still be a specific area for Caravans and Campervans and an area for those that have booked a hook up for power.

Arrivals and Box Office

In a few weeks’ time we will be asking you to book an arrival slot.  This will be a 2-hour period in which we would ask you to arrive.   This will help us manage the flow of people arriving on site and pitching on the campsite.

Those who had Early Bird tickets carried forward from 2020will be given priority booking but there will be enough slots for everyone to arrive before the music starts and enough spacious camping pitches for everyone.

We will be running ticket exchange at your vehicle to avoid further queuing at a Box Office and minimise contact.

 Site Plan and Venues

 A site plan will be coming soon, but I can tell you it has loads and I mean loads of space and if needed will have a one-way system, socially distanced pods in front of stages, queuing systems for things like toilets and catering and lots of sanitising stations and extra handwashing.

We will have 3 main stages/spaces.  Venue 65 and The Big Club will be outdoor stages with large audience spaces in front with enough room to socially distance if we have to.

Then there will be a large covered (but open sided) workshop space with enough room for at least 400 workshop participants at every workshop even with social distancing.

There will be a Creative Quarter outdoor space and some further covered but open sided spaces for picnics etc and a space for outdoor games and activities as well as a small outdoor storytelling space.

There will be very little furniture as this would mean constant cleaning and sanitising, so we urge you all to bring a portable seat, blankets and other things to sit on.

More on all this when we finalise site plans.

 Toilets and Showers

 There will be loads of toilets …. The ratio of toilets to people will be bigger than ever before  
At least 1 toilet for every 25 people on site.  That is more than 3 times the normal ratio!
 These will be single unit toilets so that we are able to clean them more regularly without shutting whole blocks and without people having to squeeze past each other to gain access to cubicles.  They will be fully sanitised regularly with full time attendants looking after each block.

There will also be 3 times the normal ratio of showers to people  and again these will be cleaned more regularly.

 Covid Safe

 We will of course be led by Government guidelines but will go further than we need to by law to make sure you feel safe. 
If social distancing is no longer required, we will still provide a number of socially distanced “pods” around the stages for those that want their own space.

If mask wearing is needed, then we will ask you to wear masks in queues and busy areas

If a one-way system around site is needed it will be put in place.

We will be led by guidance at the time and then use all our live events experience to make sure it is a safe but fun festival for you all, however you want to do it!

Line Up

As I said, your 2021 ticket for Towersey is valid for Pint-Sized Towersey  NOW.
We understand that some of you will have booked for certain artists that now will not be appearing.  The limited audience numbers means that  certain artists would simply not be viable or were not available now and so we hope that the new artists we have brought in along with the brilliant line up we have retained will make for a stunning weekend of music and fun.

On top of this will be Workshops, daily Ceilidhs (socially distanced if needed), Storytelling, Circus, Crafts, Games, Film  and more of the usual Towersey magic.

Family and Children

All workshops will be for all ages with at least 3 workshops each day focussed on younger people and children.  Workshops like Yoga, Tai Chi, Ukulele, Choir, Storytelling, Drama, Crafts and Circus, will be aimed at all ages from 5 to 95. 
There will  be a daily family show on one of the stages and at least 3 Storytelling sessions every day.  There will also be drop-in activities that can be done COVID safe at the Creative Quarter and lots of outdoor organised games and fun.

There will NOT be the dedicated wall to wall “All About Children” programme that we normally have but there will be plenty to do all day and night.

The more we can do (with the restrictions that are in place at the time) the more we will do.

Our plan is to keep adding if and when we can!

 Ceilidh

Such an important part of Towersey of course.  There will be at least 4 Ceilidh bands and hopefully a couple of Ceilidhs each day.  These will be on grass and in the open air.  There won’t be the fully floored Ceilidh venue as it is just impossible to know whether such close dancing will be allowed or welcomed.

If these need to be socially distanced they will be, even if not necessary we may run a couple of socially distanced ceilidhs for those not comfortable with a full ceilidh.

There will be other dance as well in the form of workshops and bands to go crazy to and jump up and down….Towersey style!

Again, the more we can do the more we will add where and when we can.

Finally

Please bear with us.  We are planning for an event that is changing almost daily.  Things will inevitably change between now and August and we will do our best to keep you well informed.

If, in the end we cannot run, then we will not run…….. and we will roll tickets over to 2022 or offer refunds at that point.  But we will work hard to make 2021 possible, safe and brilliant.

With the support of the Governments Cultural Recovery fund, we are able to plan for this smaller event that is far from the normal, viable model we usually work to.
