New This Year

One of our visitors recently described Towersey as true example of Community.  A shared desire to have a great time in a peaceful and inclusive environment with a common sense of escapism.  It’s a spirit and atmosphere that cannot and is not manufactured.  It’s what you, us, them; all of us bring to our special event that makes it truly unique.  Long may it continue to be that place, that field we all share wonderful memories of.

We had some great feedback from the 2016 Festival, as well as some wonderful suggestions for things people would like to see.  We are working on all of it.  After all this is your Festival.  Here are just a few of the things we have already started tackling for 2017.

Bigger Festival Dance House

Such is the popularity of our amazing ceilidh and dance programme that we are making the Festival Dance House and its dance floor bigger.  More room to dance and party.

Even more Ceilidh

Yep.  24hrs of Ceilidh was not enough, so we are introducing some late-night Ceilidh Parties to the programme to go alongside other dance styles and parties.

Session time

We have struggled a bit to create a space that works for those who just want play, session and jam together on the new site.  We’re putting that right and in 2017 you’ll find more space and time for this to happen in spaces that work including a dedicated area on the Festival Green within a stone’s throw of the Bar...

Looking at the timetable

Better staggering main stage shows so you get to move from one event to another without missing the names you want to see.

All about Access

We are working really hard on access to and from the site and to Thame for those town visits.  We love the way the new site flows but must make it easier to get on and off by foot. And we are looking at access signage so you can all find us!

More stuff to learn and join in with

More workshops in dance and music styles as well as more fun and inclusive activities for grownups to have a go at.

The Youth of today

A re-look at all Youth events to try and reach out and engage with our younger audience in a more inclusive way.

Connecting with our roots

More intimate style folk and roots events that get us more in touch with our roots and give you the chance to engage with artists in a close-up and personal way.

Lots more to come of course but that’s a start based on what you have told us.  We are working hard to keep the Festival programme as packed with good traditional music as we can whilst continually keeping an eye on the future and the diversification of musical styles and influences.

We don’t believe we offer something for everyone (nobody does that!) but we have a lots for anyone who loves great music with roots and wants to be part of a true community festival.
