Esquisse

The Breton dance music group Esquisse consists of four young musicians from Loire-Atlantique, the area around Nantes. For the last eleven years, they have been performing their music all around France and Europe in different Fest-Noz, concerts and festivals including Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Isle of Man, Slovakia, etc.

Esquisse, its audacious and well defined music, without any soft focus : music that forges ahead.

Esquisse’s music comes from a rather simple recipe to which plenty of groups aspire without actually achieving it. The remarkable technical control, from those who, really, it is hardly correct to call « the Esquisse boys », is dedicated to dance, without discounting the vast creativity of all of the members of the band.  Their repertoire of dances is mainly taken from the Haute-Bretagne regions - the Eastern part of Brittany, and in particular that of Nantes where you can find figure-dances or maraichines, but you can also enjoy some Basse Bretagne dances such as the gavotte or the kost ar c'hoat.
