village hall
The Towersey village Memorial Hall was originally built back in 1925. By 1965 the Hall had fallen into a state of serious disrepair and it was decided that an event should be held to raise the money needed to restore the venue.
A local commitee was formed and it was decided that a one day Festival would be a great way to involve all the community and to raise the much needed funds. With Denis Manners and Louis Rushby at the helm, the first Towersey Village Festival was held over the August Bank Holiday in 1965 and rasied a considerable amount of money which was then used to restore, extend and modernise the Hall. The Festival was in fact so popular that it returned the following year as a three day event and over the last forty-four years has evolved into one of the best loved and most successful folk festivals in the UK.
Forty-four year's later, the Village Hall is still an important part of Towersey Festival, offereing an opportunity for you to experience some of your favourite artists up close and personal. This year's line-up includes Nick Hennessey & Hugh Lupton, Leon Rosselson, Chris Wood and Jody Kruskal.
