volunteering

The deadline for applications to become a volunteer steward at the 2010 Festival has now passed but there may be a few spaces still available.  Please email the Festival office info@towerseyfestival.com for more information.

things you should know…

You MUST read the Terms and Conditions on your form and sign the declaration at the bottom of the application form.  If you do not understand any of the information you have been given please contact the Festival Office before sending in your application.

• Application forms received are reviewed and placed in the most suitable areas of work, taking your preferences into account where possible.  The information provided on your application form is taken seriously but no guarantees can be made to meet your requests.

• Due to Insurance and Heath and Safety considerations, we are unable to accept anyone needing to keep their children or animals with them whilst working (except Dogs trained to assist people with disabilities).

We really value our Stewards contribution to the Festival and encourage you to enjoy both your work and this great event.  We do ask that as a Towersey Steward you take your role seriously and meet the commitments of your shifts.  No-one is expected to work without breaks for a cuppa, visit to the toilet etc. and this will be arranged within your team.

• Please complete the whole application form, even if we know you very well.  It helps us with admin and with duty allocation.

Don’t forget to stick on a photo EVEN IF YOU HAVE STEWARDED WITH US BEFORE.  We may need to locate you urgently and not everyone will know what you look like.

We look forward to seeing you at Towersey.

Steve Heap, Festival Director & the Towersey Festival Team

tvf stewarding terms & conditions

• You must be 18 years old or over on 25 August 2010 to be a Volunteer Steward.

• If you are placed on a rota then we expect you to work the hours allocated to you.  Anyone who fails to honour their stewarding commitments without a valid reason will have their pass revoked and any future applications will be turned down.

• Please prioritise your stewarding duties.  Some of your shifts may clash with events that you would like to see and we ask that this is dealt with at the Festival within your team.  However, it is not always possible to change rotas to suit everyone's requests.

• You will be expected to be vigilant and health and safety conscious whilst on shift.  Steward Team Leaders will brief you before shifts as to your responsibilities.

• Drinking, being under the influence of alcohol or smoking whilst on duty or whilst working alongside customers and colleagues is NOT allowed at any time.

• Stewards are expected to comply with the ticket Terms & Conditions.  You will be required to sign your Ticket Receipt to confirm you have read and understood your rotas and notes and agree all the Terms and Conditions.

new for 2010

• Stewards will have specially designated access to camping areas of Site 2 when setting up, to allow customers priority to some areas of the camp site (as is standard with many festivals).

• Access to camp sites is only available from 12noon on Thursday 26 August, unless your first shift is on Wednesday 25 or Thursday 26 August.  You will not be able to access the camp site before 12noon on Thursday 26 August without a letter of permission from the Festival Director, which will be issued with your rotas in August.

And a reminder…

Dogs are NOT permitted ANYWHERE on the Showground site*.  Those with dogs wishing to reach the Concert Stage or Ceilidh Tent from the Thame Road will clearly have to cross the Showground.  Please would dog owners do this as quickly as possible without stopping on the Showground.  Dogs are permitted on Camp Sites 1, 2 and 3 if kept on a lead at all times.  Dogs on leads will be allowed in the Concert and Ceilidh Tents, The Hive and the Village Hall, subject to space and good behaviour.  Dogs will NOT be allowed in the Church, the Children's Centre or Festival Dance House or its adjacent compound.  There is NO provision for dogs to be left unattended on the Festival Sites.  Any dog deemed to be a nuisance will be removed from the Festival sites, along with its owner.  * Dogs to assist people with disabilities will be admitted to all venues including the Showground.
