festival friends

Towersey Village Festival has many friends, in fact many thousands, not just in the UK but worldwide.  So to all those, thank you for lending your support to the Festival and the now well-established charity "The Friends of Towersey Festival".

What is the charity for?
What better and wider purpose could we have than:
. for the education of people in music, dance, song, theatre, arts and crafts.
. to encourage the young to encompass performing and visual arts at an early stage.
. to support the careers of people developing their skills and even taking them on to a fully professional level.
. to support people in later life who decide perhaps they missed out and now turn to the arts in their leisure time or new careers.

The strong links with Towersey Village Festival are very evident as many of the recipients of grants from the Friends, both young and old, return to the Festival year after year to perform and share their experiences.

With your help this good work can continue.  The fund has its principle donor in the Festival itself, but it is your vocal and financial support that will put the icing on the cake and give the Trustees of the Friends the opportunity to support more people in their hobbies, careers and life in the arts.

The Friends of Towersey Festival is a fund separate from the Festival itself.  It holds charitable status and is carefully monitored by the Charity Commission.  Its sole purpose is to encourage involvement in the arts and has in recent years done some magnificent work.

How can you help?
To become an individual supporter we ask you for only £20 a year.  Or, you could include the whole family for just £40 per year.  For a company or small business only £60 per year and of course larger donations are always welcome and certainly put to good use.

In return, The Friends will recognise your support through the publicity of Towersey Village Festival and welcome you to a Friends Gathering each August Bank Holiday weekend at the Festival.

Finally, if you are a UK tax payer please make your donation through Gift Aid then the Friends of Towersey Festival can reclaim the tax straight from HM Revenue and Customs and get a further 28p on each £1 in support of education in the arts.

To make a donation and join the Friends please contact the Festival Office on 01629 827016.
Thank you for your support.  If you need more information about our work and our aims then please contact The Friends of Towersey Festival c/o Festival Office, PO Box 296, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3XU, UK

Some of the feedback The Friends have received since granting support include:

“A huge thank you for your generous funding for me to complete another year in the Oxfordshire County Youth Orchestra . . . and the opportunity to fill another year with exciting performances and the chance to get closer to fulfilling my lifetime ambition of being a successful musician” Becky Redwood

“Thanks to the generosity of [The Friends] I was able to purchase a far better instrument than I had
thought possible… After a successful year at University I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in music”
Sarah Stuart

“This funding allowed us to invite Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley back to run workshops, which we opened up to a much wider audience.  In all 20 young musicians and a few equally enthusiastic adults attended”
